What inspired you to pursue a career in events?
The event industry offered a perfect balance of the skills that come naturally to me. A crazy and fun mix of creativity, organization and problem-solving. Moving into flowers allowed me to focus on one aspect of an event and reconnect with art and nature.

What is your role in the event industry?
Former Event Manager turned Floral Designer. I still freelance some event planning because it's in my blood!
What sort of events do you produce or you are interested?
We thoughtfully design flowers for all types of events, weddings and installations. Our dream client is inspired by our aesthetic and collaborates with us to bring their vision to life.
Describe your typical day?
Every day is different and that's what I love most about studio and freelance life! My favorite days are spent shopping at the flower market, designing in the studio and event day when all of the design elements come to life. There are plenty of hours spent on administrative and business tasks also - from answering inquiries, creating proposals and design boards, to developing and implementing business strategies and creative content. The variety keeps inspiring.
What's the biggest lesson you have learned that you would like to share with those new to the industry?
So many lessons over the years! Take time to understand what your client values and make it easy for them to enjoy the event. Chaos can happen behind the scenes, but the experience should appear flawless to attendees. There is magic pulling an event together, remember to have fun and show appreciation for all of those working hard with you to make it happen.
What would you like to see improved in the event industry?
Client education and collaboration amongst vendors.
What event are you looking forward to this year?
Participating in Art Alive at the San Diego Museum of Art is always a creative highlight. Attending DÃa De Los Muertos yearly is another event that is close to my heart.
